The idea to create a guild started via another board which was destroyed by TNT in an attempt to squish rebellion. However, they did not count on Pyro being jacked up on caffeine and more than willing to create another one. Silly TNT....
zincdragon-So they want to crush any and all resistance hmm? Well good luck. Everything I said, we said, we meant. We aren't going down without a fight. TNT can bring in newbies, but the olbies are FOREVER.
I don't care /how/ many boards it takes to reunite the olbies of that rant. I /will/ do it and I'll bring in some more as well. We are the Fighters. We are the ones who would try to restore neopets to at least /some/ of its former glory. Come on guys, are you going to let a silly little destroyed board stop you?
I'll rant til' the cows come home. Til' the olbies come.
What was neopets once?
It was a place of decent roleplays, 50 PAGES not 20. No post count, a way around the character limit...links...glowing fonts...Christmas was a cup of Borovan by the fire, not a mad dash to go to the advent calendar and sell whatever you get! It was literacy...it was awesome...it was.../nice/.
What has it become?
It was to good to last apparently. Money. Makes the world go 'round in this day and age. One toy campaign and BOOM little kids all over the place, pretending to be 13, biting anyone that tries to help them become literate. ILLITERACY. That fateful day when the first Neopets Toy advertisement came out...was the dawning of the age of Illiteracy.

theledhead- Neopets isn't going to kick the young kids off the site, and we certainly can't.
zincdragon- Now, I and friends who are not here yet, have decided there is only one, /GOOD/ decision that can be made: A Guild. Not just a guild though. A guild that will stand up to the horrors of such words as 'iced' and illiteracy'. WE WILL NOT BE BEATEN. We will keep coming back, and coming back, waiting for a time when children loose interest in neopets. For a time when we can RESTORE it to
maybe 25% of its original awesomeness. Some things can't be changed. Maybe such a time will never exist...But we can try. And if we don't succeed, then maybe we can at least bring /some/ literacy back to neopets.
A Guild. We don't even have a name yet. But we have a dream.
theledhead- The "olbies" probably aren't going to want to come back, even after the children lose interest.
zincdragon- Are you so sure about that? I would. The people who were on the previous board title 'Le Rant' would. If you wouldn't or don't think they would then more power to yah'.
froggo_frog_returns- Pyro I went on just one more time and you made me proud.
theledhead- I hate to sound like a cynical party-pooper, here, but what you just took the time to type has been said many, many times before. Neopets will never be the same as it was way back when. Maybe you can get them to change the layout back, though.

You know, I would lxve it so much if you succeeded. And if they got rid of these confounded filters. I can't believe the stuff they filter. I have to go through my post and get synonyms for every other word because of some innuendo that I've never even heard of before. Grr.

Sure, I may be only 13, but I have been a faithful roleplayer since the beginning of neopets.
I've recently lost interest in it because the boards are full of deperate illiterate newbies that type five worded posts.
I've been forced to reside to Pro boards and Invision Free and other forums.

the_cheshire_cat013 - Empowering speech. I admit, I haven't been on THAT long, but things do seem to be getting more and more childish and this whole illiteracy is cute thing HAS TO STOP! It's ridiculous!! None of the rps are fun anymore. That's why everytime I come on here, I start one. Only those I find good enough can join.
x_darkest_scandals_x - men, Star. Turning 14 next month and I still remember better times than these. True, I lied about my age to get on, but I wasn't half as immature as today's liars.

official_bookworm - I role played fro a couple years and only recently sort of stopped. I rarely go on now. Just today, TNT deleted two of the boards I was at. Why can't they just leave us alone? Do they like browse the rp boards now? I have seen way worse stuff at places like the fan club boards.

I know what you mean, official! They killed mine just yesterday when it was getting good! I make apocalyptic war roleplays daily. Everyone likes them because I only let people who are really trying to do well into my boards. We all have a good time and when it gets good, they kill it. They should realize by now, not all of us are five. They can loosen the reigns a tad.

zestydragon-I switched accounts as I could not bring myself to quit the fantasy wolf roleplay guild I am in. They are literate, and thus I stay.

Then we throw it out there in nm to all friends we have and every time I start a board, I can mention it to anyone I think is our PB material.

But you know what I miss about old roleplaying? REALLY miss? That when you came on here and you had a knack for writing or imagination, you could come here and let it all out beautifully and not have someone tarnish. You could come here and even learn to BETTER yourself at it.

I did that with my site! There were four tribes {4 tribe leaders duh}, and each tribe had its own group of genres.

And so with a few minor problems and a whole lot of talking and planning the guild and site were born! We wish we could show you the original rant that sparked this one, but it was destroyed by TNT. In fact that is the reason this rant was sparked. Hopefully this carefully copied and pasted Neopets Rant Board will help you to understnad how and why this organization was created.
